~ 11th South Wales Borderers Sheffield 1898 Sterling Silver Tray Presented to Colonel Gaussen ~
The tray is of sterling silver, with a scalloped edge and sits on three feet
It is hallmarked for Sheffield 1898 with a makers mark for Mappin & Webb.
The tray is engraved:
To Colonel Gaussen from the Officers of the 11th S.W.B as a mark of affection & appreciation of his kindness and consideration whilst in command of the Battalion.
In one of the images is a watercolour of Colonel Gaussen, this is not included in the sale.
~ Dimensions ~
The tray measures 30.5cm (12 inches) in diameter and weighs 750g.
~ Condition ~
There are some light scratches to the surface of the tray and a little tarnish in parts, though the majority of tarnish can be removed with a good polishing.
The tray is otherwise in very good condition with minimal wear.
