Description

Here we have a truly incredible firearm, a cavalryman’s pistol made for the East India Company, of all the pistols of the era, Crown Army or EIC, this is among the best pistol we have been lucky enough to have.

The pistol is in excellent condition aesthetically and mechanically.

The markings are clear and exceptionally crisp with a clear manufacture date and a clear East India Company Lion.

The pistol has the affixed swivel ramrod of a cavalry pistol so presumably was used by a mounted officer or regular cavalry trooper of the Company.

The pistol has a clear proof mark on the barrel, as well as either a rack or unit number.

The pistol has had the initials ‘CL’ carved into the left hand side as well as either a ‘CC’ or two omega symbols one above the other.

The wood furniture has been stamped with ‘80’ under the broad arrow acceptance mark along with what looks like a ‘W&L’ marking.

The pistol is made from steel and iron with wooden furniture and brass fittings.

~ Dimensions ~

The barrel is 9 inches (23 cm) long.

The pistol is 16 inches (40.5 cm) long.

The pistol weighs 1.2kg.

~ Condition ~

The condition of the pistol is almost second to none.

There is some minor pitting to the barrel.

The lion marking has some fading on its lower section.

ref. GS7458103 / MLB0E0ZX8LP
