Here we have an 1830 Special Constable Police truncheon. The truncheon is made of a hardwood and has been painted from the grip and upwards. The king’s crown is painted on the truncheon for King William IV. The pommel is stamped with “Townsend Leicester”.

~ Dimensions ~

The truncheon is 18 inches (45.6 cm) long.

The truncheon weighs 295 grams.

~ Condition ~

The truncheon is in very good condition for its age, the grip is in excellent condition with a small crack to it, the truncheon is in very good condition, it has a two cracks either side which start from near the grip and each extend about 5 inches. The paintwork is in good condition with quite a few patches of wear.
