Description

~ 1837 Original Signed Letter From The Duke Of Wellington ~

A letter personally written and signed by the Duke of Wellington.

This really is a fascinating artefact and a wonderful piece of history.

The letter is dated March 2nd 1837, London and is simply signed ‘Wellington’.

It concerns the matter of possible corruption by a Captain Wilson, and talks of needing to get a statement from a W. Hawkes.

The letter is addressed to a Sir, but it is not clear who this recipient it.

The letter is written in a black/brown ink on a single piece of folded paper and covers 2 ½ sides.

The letter has a modern stamp reading ‘Autograph Collection of Dr. Max Thorek’ to the area under Wellingtons signature.

~ Dimensions ~

The letter is written on a folded piece of paper just slightly smaller than A4.

~ Condition ~

The letter has been very well looked after and is in remarkably good condition with barely any fading or foxing.
