Description

*1907 Lee Enfield Hook Quillion Bayonet*

The 1907 Lee-Enfield Hook Quillion Bayonet was designed for use with the Lee-Enfield rifles, particularly the Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk III and No.4 Mk I rifles. It was introduced in 1907 and remained in service with various Commonwealth countries for many decades.

The term "hook quillion" refers to the distinctive shape of the bayonet's crossguard. It features an upward-curved quillon, or crossguard, which resembles a hook. This design was intended to aid in dislodging the enemy's rifle from their hands during close-quarters combat.

The 1907 Lee-Enfield Hook Quillion Bayonet has a single-edged blade with a spear-point tip. The blade measures approximately 17 inches (43 cm) in length. It was designed for thrusting and slashing, making it a versatile weapon for both offensive and defensive purposes.

The bayonet attaches to the Lee-Enfield rifle by fitting it onto the rifle's muzzle and securing it with a locking mechanism. This allows the rifle to be effectively transformed into a spear or short sword when needed.

This bayonet bears the faded Crown Cypher with the letters G.R, the date 1907 and the numbers 9 and 13. The "G.R" letters stand for "Georgius Rex," indicating that the bayonet was manufactured during the reign of King George, monarch from 1910 to 1936.

*Condition*
The blade is in good condition with no noticeable nicks however there is considerable rust. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
