GSTP Army issue WW2 Black faced pocket Watch by Leonidas
Excellent condition and running well. Chrome plated case with snap on back. In its original aluminium case with Perspex window. War Department broad arrow, G.S.T.P and T1173 on the reverse. diameter 52mm. Original black with White Numerals and originally luminous hands as well as the 12, 3, 6, and 9. A good looking military watch, in the best colour. Dial signed Leonidas. Fine quality 15 jewel movement by a company with an excellent reputation for fine military watches. A major supplier for the German army during the 30’s. The Leonidas Company was originally formed by Julien Bourquin in Switzerland in 1841 and was named after the legendary king of Sparta. The company specialized in fine stopwatches, chronographs and multifunction watches for aircraft and car instrument panels. In 1964 the company merged with Heuer, forming Heuer-Leonidas S.A
*Condition*
This watch is in great condition for its age, LEONIDAS circa 1939 Serial No 325622 and movement No 19033. There are signs of its age to the sides but no damage, The luminous effect is not expected to be active now, the watch winds and functions well we have wound it and it appears to keep time we, however we do not guarantee its time keeping abilities due to its age. The case is in similar excellent condition.
