~ 19th Century Ancient Order Of The Foresters Ceremonial Horn From Alloa Clackmannanshire ~
Made from bull horn, the vessel has a soft rope carrying handle and white metal (i.e. un-hallmarked silver) mounts with wire work.
The plaque reads…
“John McLaren A.O.F. Court Lady Norton
along with a depiction of an archer shooting at a deer.
Alloa is the main town in the Scottish county of Clackmannanshire. As Britain’s smallest historic county, it is often nicknamed “The Wee County”.
The A.O.F. is a benevolent friendly society.
~ Condition ~
One of the rings on the strap has become detached from the horn. The white metal mounts have numerous small dents from active imbibing. The horn appears to be free from splits.

The horn is 34 cm (13.5 inches) long and has a mouth diameter of 9.5 cm (3.75 inches).
