~ 19thC Chinese Bamboo Brush Pot ~
A lovely Chinese brush pot dating to the mid 19th century.
The pot is made of a single stem of bamboo inlaid with segments of bone (or maybe ivory).
The pot is faceted and on each facet is a long oval piece of inlay and a small circular piece. There is an inlay collar to the upper half.
The pieces of inlay are hand-carved with images of Chinese people involved in different activities and with Chinese symbols and text.
~ Dimensions ~
The pot has a diameter of 10cm (4 inches) and a height of 15cm (6 inches).
It weighs 345g.
~ Condition ~
The bamboo has a few small natural splits but no actual damage. The inlay is all in good order.
The pot has a lovely tactile quality with areas smooth from use.
