~ A Royal Marine Child’s Uniform ~
This is a late 1950’s Century Royal Marine child’s tunic and trousers set.
The size indicates that is made for a 4 of 5 year old.
The tunic and trousers are navy blue. All buttons and badges are present.
The lining is of black silk on the body and white inside the sleeves.
The trousers have red wool piping on the sides. All buttons are present.
The buttons bear the fouled anchor beneath the queen’s crown, implying that the piece is from the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
~ Dimensions ~
The tunic is 20 inches (51 cm) long, measured at the back, from the top of the collar.
The armpit to armpit width is 12 ½ inches (32 cm).
The waist is 13 inches (33 cm).
The sleeves are 14 inches (35.5 cm) long, measured from the top of the shoulder.
The trousers are 23 inches (59 cm) long.
The waist is 10 inches (26 cm).
The set weighs 800 grams.
~ Condition ~
The tunic is fair condition with some moth holes, as seen in the pictures.
The buttons have some degree of wear and one of the collar badges is worn off completely.
The trousers have significant moth holes, as shown in the pictures.
