Description

~ A Winston Churchill Documents and Medal Trio Group ~

This is an exceptional collection from a family close to the high Conservative circles.

The set comprises of a First World War Winston Churchill signed letter from the time when he was the First Lord of the Admiralty, a Royal Field Artillery Gunner’s WW1 medal trio comprising of a 1914 star with the mentioned in dispatches rosette, a War medal and a Victory medal, all named “29889 GNR H Davis RFA” ( he served in the 41st Royal Field Artillery) and a post WW2 letter from the Prime-Minister Edward Heath.

The letter can be quite precisely dated as we know that Churchill served as First Lord since October 1911. His WW1 service occupying this role happened between 4th of August 1914 and 25th of November 1915, so the letter was written between these dates.

The medals speak for themselves and due to the fact that we have a name, a number and a military outfit the soldier’s history can be traced.

Edward Heath was the Prime-Minister between 19 June 1970 and 4 March 1974. He was close to Winston Churchill since his early days in politic. He was appointed as an opposition whip by Winston Churchill in February 1951. He remained in the whips’ office after the Conservatives won the 1951 general election, rising rapidly to Joint Deputy Chief Whip, Deputy Chief Whip and, in December 1955, Government Chief Whip under Anthony Eden.
He was also a collector of Churchill’s paintings.

~ Condition ~

An excellent collection in very good condition as can be seen in the pictures.
