Description

~ An English Porcelain Bow Figure Of A Putti Holding A Dog, c.1760 ~

The figure stands on the raised base applied with flowers. The putti holds a small lap dog. The figure is wearing a floral garland and chaplet. It is very finely painted in coloured glazes. Rare and highly desirable figure. Unmarked.

~ Bow ~

Bow figures originated around 1745. Thomas Frye and his silent partner, Edward Heylin, owned the patent. Their British factory made everyday, practical items, but will always be remembered for their porcelain figurines

~ Dimensions ~

The figure is 5 inches (12.5cm) tall by 2.25 inches (5.5cm) wide and the base diameter is approx. 2.15 inches (5.4cm). The total weight is 200 grams.

~ Condition ~

The condition of the figure is decent. It has numerous losses to the leaves and flowers. The figure has been rejoined in the neck area. Rare and highly desirable figure.
