    Description

~ English Bow Porcelain Figure Of A Putti Holding Basket Of Flowers c1760 ~

The figure stands on the raised base applied with flowers. The putti holds a flower in one hand and a basket containing more flowers in the other hand. The figure is wearing a floral garland and chaplet. It is very finely painted in coloured enamels. Unmarked.

    ~ Bow ~

Bow figures originated around 1745. Thomas Frye and his silent partner, Edward Heylin, owned the patent. Their British factory made everyday, practical items, but will always be remembered for their porcelain figurines.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The figure is 4.9 inches (12.5cm) tall by 2.25 inches (5.5cm) wide and the base diameter is approx. 1.9 inches (4.5cm). The total weight is 145 grams.

    ~ Condition ~

The condition of the figure is very decent. It has typical losses to the leaves and petals. The figure have 2 small cracks – which are firing faults, not damage – to the bottom of the tree but does not have any restoration evidence. The losses are certainly not extensive and do not detract from this fine, rare and highly desirable figure.
