Description

*British, c.1902–1952, Royal Artillery Cap Badge, Brass Slider, King's Crown, Other Ranks Service Dress Pattern*

An original British Royal Artillery Other Ranks service dress cap badge in gilding brass featuring the King's (Tudor) Crown above the regiment's famous field gun device and motto scrolls. The upper scroll bears UBIQUE ("Everywhere"), while the lower carries QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT ("Whither Right and Glory Lead"). Constructed as a one-piece brass badge with the correct vertical slider fitting to the reverse, intended for wear on Service Dress caps and later berets.

Approx. Measurements – Height: 7cm. Width: 5cm.

History Note:
The Royal Regiment of Artillery received the unique distinction UBIQUE in 1832 from King William IV in recognition that artillery had served in virtually every British military campaign. Unlike most regiments, the Royal Artillery therefore carries this single honour in place of conventional battle honours. The King's Crown pattern remained in service from 1902 until 1952 and would have been worn throughout both the First and Second World Wars. The single brass slider fitting identifies this example as a standard Other Ranks issue badge, worn by enlisted soldiers on Service Dress caps and later berets.

*Condition*
Good original service-used condition retaining an attractive aged brass finish. Reverse retains its original slider fitting. Age wear and light verdigris present to the reverse consistent with long service and storage. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
