Description

*British, Post-1952, Shropshire Yeomanry Staybrite Collar Badges Pair, Queen’s Crown, Anodised Aluminium*

Pair of British Army anodised aluminium (“Staybrite”) collar badges of the Shropshire Yeomanry, each featuring the crowned circlet inscribed “SHROPSHIRE YEOMANRY” surrounding the regiment’s traditional three leopard faces (loggerheads) device. Both badges retain their bright gilt finish typical of Staybrite examples and have original lug fittings to the reverse for split-pin attachment.

Approx. Measurements – Height: 3.3 cm. Width: 2.3 cm.

Historical Note:
The Shropshire Yeomanry was first raised in 1795 as a volunteer cavalry regiment and later became part of the Territorial Army. The regiment’s badge incorporates the three leopard faces, known locally as “loggerheads,” long associated with the county of Shropshire.

These badges are the anodised aluminium pattern introduced after the Second World War, commonly known as Staybrite, which replaced earlier brass and bi-metal badges from the 1950s onward. The presence of the Queen’s Crown (St Edward’s Crown) dates these examples to the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (1952–2022).

Staybrite collar badges such as these were worn on Service Dress and No.2 Dress uniforms and are smaller than the corresponding cap badge.

*Condition*
Good overall condition with bright finish. Minor wear and surface marks consistent with service use. Both retain original lugs to reverse. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
