*British, WW1, Framed Medal Trio with Death Penny - awarded to 14559 Private William Evans of 7th Battalion Kings Shropshire Light Infantry, Victory Medal, British War Medal, 1914-15 Star*

Medals comprising Victory Medal, British War Medal and 1914-15 Star along with Death Penny and letter from Buckingham Place, framed and glazed. Comes with copy of Commonwealth War Graves research.

Son of John and Fanny Evans, of Bounds Pitch, Much Marche, Dymock, Glos.
Born 1894. Died aged 22, 14 July 1916.

The King’s Shropshire Light Infantry
The 1st Battalion was deployed directly to the Western Front in September 1914, where it stayed for the entire duration of the conflict. It was later joined by the 2nd Battalion in December 1914.

In November 1915, the 2nd Battalion was sent to Salonika, where it was joined by the 8th (Service) Battalion, and both units remained there for the rest of the war.

Additionally, the regiment raised four Territorial and five other New Army battalions that served in France and Flanders, Palestine, and at home stations. Over the course of the conflict, the regiment earned 60 battle honours.

Good used condition. Death Penny has been screwed on to the mounting board. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
