Description

*British, WW1, Medal For Long Service and Good Conduct, Awarded to: L.SJT Albert E. Parker, South Lancashire Regiment, 4235*

The Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct (Military) is bestowed upon regular members of the armed forces. Instituted by King George V in 1930, it replaced both the Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and the Permanent Forces of the Empire Beyond the Seas Medal. Initially awarded for 18 years of service until 1977, the criteria changed to 15 years from 1977.

Originally intended for Regular Army warrant officers, non-commissioned officers, and enlisted personnel of the UK Armed Forces, it also had territorial versions for the Permanent Forces of the British Dominions. Eligibility criteria were relaxed in 1947, allowing officers who had served a minimum period in the ranks before commissioning to receive the medal. Since 2016, eligibility has further expanded to include officers who never served in the ranks, making the medal accessible to all regular members of the British Armed Forces meeting the required length of service.

*Condition*
A good original example with expected age related wear and tear. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
