*British, WW2, RAF Group to Sergeant Geoffrey Harrison — Uniform, Cap, Flying Log Book & Pair of Medals*

An exceptional Royal Air Force grouping to 1583127 Sergeant Geoffrey Harrison, including his named and detailed flying log book, RAF battledress jacket and side cap, and his awarded WW2 medals (Defence Medal and War Medal 1939–45). A fantastic record of a WW2 RAF pilot.

The story of Sergeant Geoffrey Harrison
Geoffrey Harrison enlisted in Birmingham after June 1941, joining the RAF as part of the large wartime aircrew expansion. An early pencil note in his log book (“N.U.T., Result 24, 22.9.42”) suggests he passed an initial aircrew selection or educational grading in September 1942 before awaiting a flying slot.

His log book shows his official flying training began on 1 December 1943 at No. 1 Radio School, where he qualified as Wireless Operator (Air). He then proceeded to advanced training as Navigator (Wireless) at No. 8 Air Observer School in Ancienne Lorette, Quebec, qualifying on 16 June 1944. He further attended No. 1 General Reconnaissance School, Summerside, Prince Edward Island (July–August 1944), where he completed a General Reconnaissance Course and placed 15th out of 24, with an average mark of 74.4%. Harrison returned to the UK for continued advanced training, including postings to No. 15 Elementary Flying Training School (Carlisle), No. 7 EFTS (Desford), and pre-Operational Training Unit flights through to June 1945.

Harrison received the Defence Medal and War Medal 1939–45. These were issued to all RAF personnel who completed the required service duration (over 28 days for the War Medal, and at least three years' service or six months non-operational overseas for the Defence Medal).

Included items in detail:

1️⃣ RAF Navigator’s, Air Bomber’s and Air Gunner’s Flying Log Book, Dated 1.12.43 – 14.6.45
-Named to 1583127 Harrison G.
-Dozens of entries covering training in Canada and the UK.
-Clearly documents all flights, navigation and signals exercises, instructor sign-offs, and detailed course assessments.
-Aircraft types flown include Tiger Moth, De Havilland Dominie, Percival Proctor, Anson Mk I & IV, Bristol Beaufighter, and more.
-Excellent insight into BCATP training and advanced reconnaissance preparation.

2️⃣ RAF battledress jacket & belt — Size No. 10, Dated 1947
-Original RAF blue-grey serge jacket.
-Badged with wartime-era insignia: “S” specialist navigator brevet on the right breast, sergeant stripes to both sleeves, and RAF eagle shoulder patches.
-Matching belt retains stitched-in service number label “1583127,” directly linking to Harrison.
-Interior label marked: Jacket O.A., dated 1947 (Town Tailors Ltd), size No. 10 (5'9"–5'10", 36–37" chest, 33" waist).
-Honest condition with typical period wear and moth damage, consistent with long storage and service use.

3️⃣ RAF side cap (hat) — Size 6⅞, Dated 1941
-Standard issue blue-grey wool side cap.
-Correct brass buttons and brass RAF badge.
-Dated 1941 on interior label: H.527837/41, size 6⅞.
-Liner shows wear consistent with wartime use, adding to its authenticity and direct connection to his enlistment year.

4️⃣ Medals
-Defence Medal with original ribbon.
-War Medal 1939–45 (no ribbon, as per photos).

*Condition*
All items show genuine service wear but remain well-preserved. The log book is complete and legible throughout, with some edge and spine wear. The uniform displays moth damage, light soiling, and service fading but no major structural issues. Medals are in very good condition with minor surface marks. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.

A rare and complete grouping of a WW2 RAF aircrew member whose service story exemplifies the vast numbers of RAF men trained. A fascinating piece of WW2 aviation history, perfect for serious collectors and researchers alike.
