A collection of six original First World War ‘Fragments From France’ magazines by Bruce Bairnsfather .

Captain Charles Bruce Bairnsfather (1887 – 1959) was a prominent British humorist and cartoonist. His best-known cartoon character ‘Old Bill’ featured in Bairnsfather's weekly "Fragments from France" cartoons published weekly in "The Bystander" magazine during the First World War.

These magazines are collections of the cartoons found in The Bystander magazine. They were a firm favourite during The First World War being enjoyed by both civilians and the soldiers fighting on the front.

~ Dimensions ~

They are all of standard magazine size (approx. 8 inches by 12 inches).

The set weighs 935g.

~ Condition ~

The condition of the magazines vary with some in rather good order and some having slight damages.

A couple have detached covers, one is split along the spine and one is missing its back cover.

A couple have a name written on the first page.

They all have general wear with some foxing as you would expect but in overall are in good order for a set of paper magazines that are now nearly 100 years old.
