A beautiful Asian style match strike/match holder with cover manufactured by the British company G.B & Sons Ltd and dating to the 1920’s.

The piece is decorated to the outside with enamel and gilt decoration of pagodas, trees and flowers on a blue ground. This is repeated to the interior of the cover.

The rim of the cover has black and gilt decoration and is finished off with a silver gilt edge hallmarked for London, 1925.

The base has a well to the centre for storing matches and a roughened edge on which to strike the matches.

The piece is printed to the underside ‘G. B. & Sons Ltd, London, Made in England’ and is also marked ‘2929B’.

~ Dimensions ~

The piece has a diameter of 7cm (2 ¾ inches) and a height of 5cm (2 inches).

It weighs 315g.

~ Condition ~

The piece is in a very nice condition with only some very light wear and a couple of dings to the silver rim.

The silver does have some tarnish but we did not want to polish this in case we removed some of the gilding.
