~ Charles Noke & H. Fenton Royal Doulton George VI & Elizabeth Coronation Loving Cup c1937 ~
A large loving cup designed in 1937 by Charles Noke and H. Fenton for Royal Doulton to celebrate the coronation of King George VI
and Elizabeth.
The jug was a limited edition of 2000, this jug is numbered 206.
The large, twin handled jug has moulded relief decoration throughout; The front side with a portrait plaque of George and Elizabeth
depicted in profile to the centre surrounded by an array of British symbolic imagery. The reverse with St George mounted on a horse
against a view of Windsor Castle.
The two handles are decorated with foliage and British colony names.
The base bears an inscription pertaining to their Majesties coronation (see images) and also with printed Royal Doulton factory marks
and edition number.
~ Dimensions ~
The cup has a diameter of 20cm (8 inches) while measuring 27cm (10 ½ inches) across the handles.
It has a height of 26.5cm (10 ½ inches) and weighs 1.86 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The jug is in a lovely condition with no cracks, chips or sign of repair. There is crazing to the glaze throughout but the cup still
presents very well.
