~ Chinese Late Qing Small Blue & White Sleeve Vase ~
A lovely small blue and white porcelain Kangxi style sleeve vase dating to the late Qing Dynasty.
The Qing dynasty, officially the Great Qing, was the last imperial dynasty of China. It was established in 1636, and ruled China proper from 1644 to 1912.
The Kangxi Emperor was the fourth emperor of the Qing dynasty, and the second Qing emperor to rule over China from 1661 to 1722.
The vase is late Qing, in the Kangxi style but possibly dating a little later but in the older style, maybe as late as the 19th century.
The vase is of cylindrical form with a flared mouth decorated in under-glaze blue on a white ground.
The vase has decoration of flowers with diamond shaped cartouches back and front with scenes depicting what appears to be a vase on a small table (similar images to both sides).
The vase is very small measuring only 8.5cm in height, perfect for a single flower.
~ Dimensions ~
The vase has a diameter of 3.5cm (1 ⅓ inches) and a height of 8.5cm (3 ¼ inches).
It weighs 51g.
~ Condition ~
There is a small area of repair to the bottom edge (see photos) but thankfully this is not too visible and doesn’t spoil the look of the piece.
The rim has a couple of rough spots but these seem to be part of the firing process rather than wear.
The vase is otherwise in a very nice condition with no further problems or signs of wear.
