~ Circa 1765 First Period Worcester Kempthorne Pattern Bowl ~
A beautiful first period Worcester (later Royal Worcester) porcelain bowl decorated in the Kempthorne pattern dating to c1765.
The glazed is painted in the kakiemon style (a style of Japanese enamelled ceramics) with red and blue flowers and green leaves on a white ground.
There is a band of patterning with gilt decoration to the base and inner rim as well as flower decoration to the inside of the bowl.
The bowl has the cross-hatched square mark in blue to the base.
~ Dimensions ~
The bowl has a diameter of 6 inches (15cm) and a depth of 2 ¾ inches (7cm).
It weighs 245g.
~ Condition ~
The bowl has been used and therefore has lost most of the painted flower design to the lower flat of the inside of the base and there is also an area of discolouration to the outer edge of the rim. Overall the bowl is in a nice condition for its age with minimal wear to the majority of the paint work and no chips or cracks.
