Description

~ Circa 1850's British Victorian Needle Fire Rook Rifle ~

The needle rifle is one of the most important milestones in firearms history. It introduced true bolt-action operation and self-contained, breech-loaded ammunition—decades before such designs became standard.

A “needle rifle” is a firearm that uses a long, thin firing pin (the “needle”) to pierce a paper cartridge from the rear and ignite the primer located inside the cartridge, usually near the bullet.
It was one of the first breech-loading bolt-action rifles ever issued for military service.

The most famous model is the Dreyse Zündnadelgewehr, adopted by Prussia in 1841.

Our example is a single shot rifle meant for civilian use.

The underbarrel is stamped with a number of inspectors marks.

The rear sight is a flipup system with theo settings.

The breach is locked and opened by operating a screw lock system.

It has two stage trigger, hard pull and light pull.

~ Dimension ~

The length of the piece is 42 inches (107 cm).

The calibre seems to be a 410mm
