~ Circa 1900 Russian Infantry 1815 Vintage Tin Flat Soldiers by M.F. Ltd ~
The set contains 16 pieces, beautifully painted by hand in period dress.
Thirteen of the figures are soldiers holding a musket with bayonet in different ways. The other four are an officer on horseback, a soldier carrying a flag, a soldier carrying a drum and what looks like a General with a sword.
The figures are painted in a glossy paint with tiny touches of gold and silver to pick up details. Each figurine is stamped to the base: ‘Jr 47a’, ‘K’.
The set is presented in a small grey card box with a paper sticker to the front. The sticker reads “M.F Ltd.”. The box is signed to the front and to the side “Russian Infantry 1815”.
There is a retailers label for Charles Morrell, 50, Burlington Arcade, Piccadilly, London W1 which traded from this address from the 1870s to the 1930s.
~ Dimensions ~
The figures stand at between 1.5 inches (3.75cm) & 2 inches (5cm). The box measures 3.75 inches (9.5cm) long by 2.5 inches (6.5cm) wide.
~ Condition ~
The soldiers are in good vintage condition. There is some minor paint chipping and one soldier’s head is missing. The box is fairly worn, with edges coming up and slight tearing.
