~ Early 19th Century Cut Glass Flute ~
A beautiful European cut glass champagne flute dating to the early 19th century.
The flute has a tapered bowl on a long stem leading down to a flower shaped base.
The flute is of clear crystal glass with a cranberry tint to the bowl.
The piece is topped off with a gilt metal collar to the rim.
The glass has no marks to pin it down to a particular maker but it is similar in style to manufacturers such as St Louis, Baccarat and Val St Lambert. We can assume therefore that the piece is most likely European, probably French in origin.
~ Dimensions ~
The flute has a rim diameter of 5cm (2 inches) and a height of 19cm (7 ½ inches).
It weighs 225g.
~ Condition ~
There is a little wear to the gilt rim and there is some scratching and a couple of small chips to the edge of the base.
There are a couple of very tiny marks on the bowl but it’s hard to tell if these are chips or from the manufacturing process, but in any case they are so tiny as to be barely noticeable unless on very close inspection.
Overall this is a beautiful piece in a nice condition.
