~ Framed “Off Calais” in the style of Thomas Bush Hardy ~
The piece depicts a shore front in Calais. The sea is rough, bashing into the wooden flood barriers. A large naval vessel can be seen to the far left, whilst various fishermen & tourists can be seen to the right walking along the shorefront.
The piece is unsigned, and is just a little coarser than a real Thomas Bush Hardy but nevertheless is a very nice seascape painted by a contemporary who is emulating his style. We have priced the piece according to this evaluation.
On the reverse of the frame is written, in pencil, the title of the piece “Off Calais”.

The frame has a width of 27.5 inches (69.8 cm), a depth of 1 inches (2.6 cm) & a height of 17 inches (43.2 cm).
The painting has a width of 19.7 inches (50 cm) & a height of 8.2 inches (21 cm).
It weighs 1.62 Kg.
~ Condition ~
There is some minor foxing to the piece but it remains in otherwise good condition. The frame has some wearing to the gilt decoration & it is unglazed.
