~ French Duck Car Hood Ornament With Publicity Poster ~
A nice piece of French automobilia, a radiator hood ornament in the form of a honking duck with its advertisement poster.
The ornament is of solid brass with a polished silver metal finish. It has a red painted mouth and is engraved with the name ‘Saturnin’ inlaid with red paint to the lower half. It is attached to a radiator cap.
It comes with its original advertisement poster.
Roughly translated, some of the phrases on the poster read: The last creations of Saturnin Fabre, Saturnin radiator cap, Fight more accidents! and On sale here.
The poster is mounted and presented in a glazed modern frame.
There is not much information to be found on the origins of this piece. There was a TV show about the adventures of Saturnin the duck in the 1960’s, and there was a French actor of the early 20th century named Saturnin Fabre but whether or not these things are linked to the piece we do not know.
