~ French Late Victorian Gilt Silver Cased Sewing Set ~
This sewing kit is a lovely little collector’s item. The sewing kit is one of the few things every lady of the period would have in common, this one being a rather expensive one for an upper class lady.
The case is of hexagonal parquetry and mother of pearl on wood fitted with an engraved brass hinge and brass button lock plate. It is silk lined.
The kit comprises of an antique needle, stitch picker, a needle case and a small pair of scissors.
They bear French hallmarks.
The lock mechanism works very well.

The set weighs 90 grams.
The case is 5 inches (12.5 cm) wide, by 2.5 inches (7 cm) deep and 1 inch (2.5 cm) tall.
~ Condition ~
The case is in a rather good condition as are the contents, though they are tarnished.
