Description

*German, Third Reich Period - Dated 1938, NSDAP Enamel Ortsgruppen / Blockleiter Information Notice Board, RZM Marked*

A rare and highly displayable original NSDAP enamelled steel information notice board dating to 1938, produced for local party administration and public communication within a German National Socialist Party district or Ortsgruppe. Measuring approximately 65 cm x 80 cm, the board retains its striking black, red, and white enamel finish together with the large Reichsadler and swastika emblem to the upper centre, despite extensive period wear, corrosion, and surface loss acquired over decades of exposure.

These enamel notice boards were typically mounted externally outside local NSDAP offices, Ortsgruppen headquarters, labour offices, or municipal administrative buildings where propaganda notices, schedules, and official announcements could be publicly displayed. Their large size and durable enamel construction allowed them to withstand outdoor exposure, though surviving examples are now uncommon due to wartime destruction and post-war denazification.

The upper text reads:
“Hier spricht die NSDAP” - “Here Speaks the NSDAP”
“Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei” - “National Socialist German Workers’ Party”

Below this appears:
“Volksgenossen! - National Comrades!
Braucht Ihr Rat und Hilfe - If you require advice and help,
so wendet Euch an die NSDAP - then turn to the NSDAP"

The lower administrative sections were intended for the handwritten insertion of local party officials, consultation hours, and district information. Surviving headings visible on the board include:

“Geschäftsstellen” – Offices / Administrative Offices
“Blockleiter der NSDAP” – NSDAP Block Leader
“Sprechzeit” – Consultation Hours / Office Hours
“Mitteilungen” – Announcements / Notices
“Blockwalter” – Block Warden / Block Supervisor

The board also references several party organisations and branches including:

“DAF-KdF” – Deutsche Arbeitsfront / Kraft durch Freude
(German Labour Front / Strength Through Joy organisation)

“N.S.F.” or “NS.-Frauenschaft”
(NS Women’s League)

The reverse retains an original Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) control stamp together with the date 1938. The circular RZM emblem refers to the Reichszeugmeisterei, the central NSDAP office responsible for licensing and controlling official party production. The “M3” category related to authorised manufacturers of symbols, signs, insignia, and enamelled items, while “49” identified the licensed producer code. The marking reads:

“Erlaubnis M 3/49 -  Permission M 3/49
Herstellung v. Symbolen - Manufacture of Symbols
1938”

Approx. Measurements – 65 cm x 80 cm.

History Note:
Following the Nazi Party’s consolidation of power after 1933, Germany became heavily saturated with official NSDAP administrative signage and propaganda displays. Boards such as this functioned not merely as practical information panels but as instruments of political visibility and local authority, reinforcing party presence at neighbourhood level through the Blockleiter system. Most surviving examples were destroyed after 1945, making large-format original enamel NSDAP administrative boards increasingly difficult to encounter today, particularly with intact RZM control markings and dated reverse stamps.

*Condition*
A heavily weathered but visually impressive original enamel sign retaining strong surviving colour and clear Gothic script. Considerable corrosion, enamel loss, rusting, edge deterioration, dents, and surface wear throughout from prolonged exposure. The lower section shows substantial loss and rust perforation, while the reverse displays heavy oxidation. Despite this, the main eagle device, major lettering, and much of the original enamel finish remain visible, giving the piece strong untouched period character. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
