Description

*German, WW2, 20mm Flak 30 - Flak 38 20-Round Magazine, Gustloff-Werke*

An original Second World War German 20-round magazine for the 2 cm Flak 30 and Flak 38 anti-aircraft guns, manufactured from pressed steel and retaining its correct wartime finish. The magazine is of the characteristic deeply curved pattern designed to accommodate the powerful 20×138B Long Solothurn cartridge, and features the standard reinforcing ribs to both faces.

This example is clearly stamped “20” denoting capacity, and bears the serial or batch number “206605” to the lower edge. Also present is a shielded “G” manufacturer’s mark, attributed to Gustloff-Werke, one of the principal German arms producers of the period. All construction details, dimensions, and markings are entirely consistent with original wartime production.

Approximate dimensions: 35 cm wide, 21 cm tall, and 5.6 cm deep.

Historical Note:
The 2 cm Flak 30 and its improved successor, the Flak 38, formed the backbone of German light anti-aircraft defence throughout the Second World War. Deployed extensively by the Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and Heer, these guns were used in static batteries, aboard ships, on armoured half-tracks, and in mobile field roles across all theatres of war.

Magazines such as this were produced in enormous numbers but were hard-used items, frequently damaged or discarded in service. Surviving original examples with correct markings remain highly collectible as standalone artefacts or as accompaniments to Flak guns, mounts, or period displays.

*Condition*
The magazine is in very good original condition, showing honest service wear throughout. The finish displays expected edge wear, light surface oxidation in places, and handling marks consistent with wartime use. The body remains structurally sound with no splits, cracks, or distortion. Feed lips and base are intact, rivets remain tight, and all stamped markings are clear and legible. Overall, a genuine and unmolested example with attractive age patina. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.

A scarce and desirable original WW2 German 2 cm Flak 30 / 38 magazine, correctly marked and attributed to Gustloff-Werke — an excellent piece of Luftwaffe and German ordnance history.
