Description

*German, WW2, 3,7cm Flak 18 Round, with Waffenamt Stamps, 1944 Brass Shell with 1943 Projectile, Inert*

The 3.7 cm Flak 18/36/37 was a series of anti-aircraft guns produced by Nazi Germany that saw widespread service in the Second World War. The cannon was fully automatic and effective against aircraft flying at altitudes up to 4,200m.

The case is dated 1944, the projectile 1943.

The round has a brass cartridge case with the following head stamp very clearly stamped "6348St, 3,7cm Flak 18, 63, avu, 4, waffenamt stamp WaA73." Waffenamt records that this was made in 1944 at Silva Metallwerke, Gethin.

The steel nose fuse is stamped (some parts are indistinct) "3.7cm Zerl Pv awl 43" (1943 date), there is an unclear Waffenamt stamp that could be "WaA340" followed by 634". Suggesting that this was made in 1943 by (awl) Union-Gesellschaft fuer Metallindustrie, Sils van de Loo u. Co., Werl plant, Froendeberg, Ruhr.

There is a further Waffenamt stamp on the neck that looks like "WaA570", CXS 40 amongst other marks.

Stamped on fuse: dmw or mwp

The unfired high explosive projectile has a single iron driving band and retains approximately some of its original yellow paint.

Condition*
This inert round is in excellent condition for its age and service. The round has very clear markings on the base. The casing is in good shape. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
