*German, WW2 - Dated 1943, Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) Malaria Tablets Tin*

An original Second World War German Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) malaria tablet tin, dated 1943, retaining its embossed lid markings “D.A.K. / Malariatabletten / 1943” together with four stamped swastika emblems positioned to the corners. The small pressed steel container was produced for the storage and issue of anti-malarial tablets intended for German personnel serving in tropical and mosquito-prone operational theatres, particularly North Africa.

The rectangular rounded-edge tin retains its original form with a naturally aged surface showing extensive field wear, oxidation, and period corrosion throughout. The interior still contains a quantity of white tablet contents, sold strictly as inert historical collector contents only and entirely unsuitable for consumption, medical use, or chemical testing.

Approx. Measurements – 7 cm long x 3.5 cm wide x 1.6 cm deep.

History Note:
Malaria posed a major operational threat to Axis and Allied troops serving in North Africa, Sicily, the Balkans, and southern Mediterranean regions during the war. German medical services issued anti-malarial prophylactics extensively to Deutsches Afrikakorps personnel operating under harsh tropical conditions. These compact tins were designed for easy transport in field kit and medical pouches. The “D.A.K.” marking directly references the Deutsches Afrikakorps, the German expeditionary force deployed to North Africa under Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. German forces commonly utilized anti-malarial compounds such as Atebrin (quinacrine), Quinine, and related synthetic prophylactic drugs in an effort to maintain troop strength in disease-prone operational areas.

*Condition*
Heavily oxidized and surface rusted throughout with strong untouched period patina. Embossed lettering and date remain clearly legible. Interior shows areas of plating loss and corrosion. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.

Important Disclaimer & Safety Warning:
The remaining tablets are sold strictly as non-consumable historical relic contents only. Due to their unknown chemical stability and age, the tablets must not be consumed, handled unnecessarily, crushed, chemically tested, or used for any medicinal purpose whatsoever. Historical military pharmaceutical compounds may contain degraded or potentially hazardous substances. The seller accepts no liability for misuse. Keep away from children and animals.
