*Imperial German,WW1, Iron Cross Group, Silver-Framed Iron Cross 2nd Class (EK2) by Carl Dillenius (CD800), Prussian Veterans’ Badge & Original D.R.G.M. Ribbon Bar (3)*
A highly attractive Imperial German group representing a decorated WWI soldier who remained proudly connected to his veteran identity into the interwar era. The centrepiece is a 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse), early-issue with magnetic iron core and .800 silver beaded frame. The suspension ring is maker-marked “CD / 800” for Carl Dillenius, Pforzheim, a desirable early-war manufacturer. Original combat-worn ribbon retained. Accompanying the cross is an enamel Prussian Veterans’ Association badge (Preußischer Landes-Kriegerverband), worn by former servicemen at remembrance events and reunions. The reverse shows its association plate clearly, and the national ribbons display printed patriotic legends typical of the 1920s–30s. Completing the grouping is a WWI period Iron Cross ribbon bar mounted to its original printed D.R.G.M. backing card (registered design 651 496) for civilian dress wear, the badge carries the same D.R.G.M. reference. The carded survival of these display pieces is distinctly uncommon and enhances the provenance of this group as a kept and valued award set. Taken together, the items neatly represent a frontline combat decoration and the later life of the man who earned it.
Historical Note:
The 1914 Iron Cross was awarded for bravery and leadership during the Great War. Early CD-marked .800-silver examples are typically associated with the major campaigns of 1914–16. After the war, millions of former soldiers joined veterans’ organisations such as the Preußischer Landes-Kriegerverband, successor to the Deutscher Kriegerbund. Members wore badges like this to honour their service, their fallen comrades, and the shared bonds of the Imperial Army well into the 1930s.

Veterans’ Badge: Enamel very good; ribbons toned with some fraying and partial legend fade; hardware sound. Ribbon Bar + D.R.G.M.
