    Description

~ Japanese Haramaki Armour Dou To The Taira Clan ~

Here we have an incredibly interesting suit of Japanese armour that appears to date to the medieval period with some interesting markings on it that appear to mark it to the Taira clan, a Japanese Clan that was destroyed in 1185 in the famous naval Battle of Dan-no-ura where it was defeated by an alliance of six other Clans.

The armour consists of a full suit of Haramaki Dou, pre-1500 armour that is made up of interlocking plates held by silk ties and well articulated to be worn primarily on horseback but also on foot.

The armour is suitable for display or ideally restoration and it is priced as such. This is a very unique opportunity to own Taira Clan collectibles and a rare chance to own an early medieval suit of Japanese armour.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The breast plate measures 17.3 inches (44cm) high.

The sleeves measure 27.5 inches (70cm) long.

The helmet measures 8.6 inches (22cm) high (excluding rear neck plates) and has an internal diameter of 24.4 inches (62cm).

    ~ Condition ~

The armour is in a condition requiring preservation or restoration with most of the lacquer intact and good condition armour plates but with aged and very frayed silk bindings. Please refer to the images.
