Description

*Led Zeppelin, Framed Knebworth Park 11th August 1979 Concert Poster*

An original first-printing Led Zeppelin concert poster produced specifically for the second Knebworth Festival date on 11 August 1979, issued after the initial 4 August performance sold out almost immediately. Posters printed solely for the second date are significantly scarcer than later dual-date versions and modern reproductions.

This is a genuine period poster, not a later reprint. Modern reproductions and 1980s commemorative reissues are typically smaller in format and commonly include both concert dates, whereas this example displays the correct single-date design associated with the second Knebworth performance.

The poster is presented in a simple black wooden frame with glazed front and is ready for wall display.

Approx Measurements: Visible poster size within the frame - 42.5 × 61 cm (The full sheet size cannot be confirmed without removing the poster from the frame). Framed size: 48.5 × 67.5 cm

Historical Note:
Led Zeppelin’s appearances at Knebworth in August 1979 marked the band’s return to live performance after a two-year absence following the death of Robert Plant’s son during the 1977 North American tour, and their first live performances in the United Kingdom for four years. Promoted by Freddy Bannister, the concerts were among the largest open-air events ever staged in Britain, with combined attendance reportedly exceeding 390,000. The Knebworth shows are widely regarded as Led Zeppelin’s final UK performances with drummer John Bonham, who died the following year.

The second Knebworth concert featured The New Barbarians, led by Ronnie Wood and including Keith Richards, Stanley Clarke, Ian McLagan, and Bobby Keys, supporting Led Zeppelin. For many attendees, these concerts represented their first — and only — opportunity to see the band perform live, securing Knebworth’s enduring place in rock history.

*Condition*
The poster displays very well behind glass. There is light, honest wear consistent with age and original use, including minor surface marks visible under reflection. The frame is structurally sound with original hanging fittings present. The rear backing board is intact. Overall condition is very good for a period display piece. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
