Description

*Polish, c.1960s, AK47 Folding Stock (kbk AKMS) 7.62×39mm Under-Folding Assault Rifle, Radom Factory 11, EU Deactivated, with Magazine, Leather Sling & Inert Cartridges*

Serial No: 42066.
A genuine Polish military-issue AK47-pattern folding stock assault rifle, specifically the kbk AKMS, chambered in 7.62×39mm and manufactured under licence at Fabryka Broni “Łucznik”, Radom. This example features the correct stamped AKM-pattern receiver with under-folding steel stock, laminated wooden handguards, black bakelite pistol grip, and original Eastern Bloc leather sling.

The rifle is identified by the “11” within a circle, the recognised Radom manufacturer’s code. The receiver displays the distinctive Polish-language fire selector markings “C” (Ciągły – automatic) and “P” (Pojedynczy – single shot), together with Polish inspection and acceptance stamps including the “G within a triangle” mark.  These markings collectively confirm Polish manufacture.

Included with the rifle is a correct Polish steel 30-round AK magazine, also bearing Polish inspection markings, and approximately five inert 7.62×39mm cartridges, comprising four Russian Barnaul-produced rounds, and one Bulgarian cartridge from Factory 10 (Arsenal, Kazanlak), all suitable for display.

The rifle has been professionally deactivated to current EU standards and is supplied with its original Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House EU deactivation certificate.

Historical Note:
Poland’s strategic position in post-war Eastern Europe led to its early entry into the Warsaw Pact, aligning it closely with the Soviet Union and placing it among the key Eastern Bloc producers of Kalashnikov-pattern rifles. Following Soviet technical assistance in the mid-to-late 1950s, Poland established domestic AK production at Fabryka Broni “Łucznik” in Radom, initially producing early AK variants before transitioning to the stamped-receiver AKM and its under-folding counterpart, the kbk AKMS. The AKMS was intended for mechanised, airborne, and armoured units, where compact stowage was essential. Polish-produced Kalashnikovs are widely regarded as among the highest-quality Warsaw Pact examples, noted for careful riveting, consistent machining, and durable finishes.

The Radom factory itself has deep historical significance. During the Second World War it was seized by German forces and operated under occupation to manufacture weapons for the Nazi war effort. After 1945, the plant was rebuilt and modernised, later becoming one of the principal arms producers of the Eastern Bloc and a cornerstone of Poland’s Cold War military industry.

*Condition*
Overall good condition with clear evidence of military service. Metal surfaces show oxidation and wear consistent with age and use. The laminated wooden handguards remain sound with attractive grain and handling marks. The under-folding stock operates correctly. Deactivation cuts and welds are visible as required by law. The magazine shows service wear consistent with issue use. Inert cartridges are for display purposes only. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.

The accompanying EU deactivation certificate records the firearm as Bulgarian. The rifle itself bears multiple definitive Polish identifiers, including Radom manufacturer and inspection marks, confirming Polish manufacture. The deactivation is fully compliant with EU Regulation 2018/337 and legally valid in the UK and EU.
