~ Poole Pottery ‘V’ Pattern ‘Leo the Lion’ Small Vase c1930’s ~
A lovely Poole Pottery vase in the ‘V’ pattern designed by Truda (Adams) Carter dating to the mid 1930’s.
The vase is a shape no. 267 of a bulbous base with an inwardly curved tapering neck .
It is of the early ‘Traditional’ style , made from red clay, slipped with a white clay on the outside with the decoration painted on to a
clear glaze.
It is decorated in the ‘V’ or ‘Leo the Lion’ pattern of bright but muted multi-coloured flowers on a white ground with blue, green and
purple banding round the rim.
The vase has a pink slip base (pre 1937) with impressed ‘POOLE ENGLAND’ stamp, shape no.’ 267′ mark, painted pattern reference ‘V’
and a decorator’s mark.
~ Dimensions ~
The vase has a base diameter of 11.5cm (4 ½ inches) and a height of 15cm (6 inches).
It weighs 500g.
~ Condition ~
The vase has a little crazing to the glaze which is quite usual. The vase is otherwise is in a really nice condition with no chips, cracks or
restoration and very little signs of wear.
