Description

*PPS Type 54 Russian Sub-Machine Gun, Dated 1952. Cal 7.62mm. Barrel Length 10". Deactivated*

Serial number PK11390, Dated 1952. Fitted with canvas and leather sling, one magazine and deactivation certificate.

The PPS Type 54 is a Russian submachine gun that was developed in 1952. The PPS is a family of Soviet submachine guns chambered in 7.62×25mm Tokarev, developed by Alexei Sudayev as a low-cost personal defense weapon for reconnaissance units, vehicle crews and support service personnel. The PPS and its variants were used extensively by the Red Army during World War II and were later adopted by the armed forces of several countries of the former Warsaw Pact as well as its many African and Asian allies.

The PPS Type 54 was designed as an improvement over the earlier PPS-43 submachine gun. The PPS Type 54 features a straight blowback operation and has a cyclic rate of fire of around 700 rounds per minute. It has a box magazine with a capacity of 35 rounds. The weapon has a folding metal stock that can be extended for shoulder firing or folded for compactness during transportation or close-quarters combat.

In terms of construction, the PPS Type 54 has a stamped steel receiver and a fixed barrel with a perforated heat shield. The front sight is located on the barrel, while the rear sight is an adjustable notch sight located on the receiver cover. The gun has a pistol grip with a fire selector switch that allows for single-shot or full-automatic fire.

The PPS Type 54 was widely used during the Cold War. It was known for its reliability and durability, making it a popular choice among military and law enforcement personnel.
