    Description

~ Regency Box Circa 1810 Decorated With Straw Work In A Sunburst Pattern ~

This small wooden box has been beautifully hand made and covered with a straw work patten. The sunburst design has been created using pieces of straw cut and tapered to create subtle variations of colour and texture.
The edges of the box have a similar technique creating stripes of alternating colour. The box is finished with a stand up hinge.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The box measures 4.25 inches (11cm) wide, 3 inches (7.5cm) deep by 2 inches (5cm) tall.

    The box weighs 75g.

    ~ Condition ~

The box is in good condition for its age and type. There is some light discolouration to the lid and a few minor chips and other areas of loss to the finish. There is a dark stain on one edge of the lid, passing down the right side. The hinge is strong and the interior clean. Underneath are the remains of a paper surface protector.
