A good quality modern replica of the legendary sword Excalibur, produced as a substantial decorative display piece inspired by Arthurian legend.
The sword features a straight polished steel blade of broad diamond section with a prominent full-length central fuller terminating shortly before the point. The blade is plain throughout, with no maker's marks or inscriptions.
The cast metal hilt has an antiqued gilt finish and is richly decorated. The crossguard is centred by a moonstone-style opalescent cabochon, giving the hilt an Arthurian-inspired appearance. The straight crossguard is ornamented on both sides with opposing dragons surrounding a central sunburst roundel, while the circular disc pommel is engraved "EXCALIBVR" around a raised basket-weave pattern on both faces. The grip is finished with a tightly wound dark wire binding, giving the sword a solid, comfortable feel in the hand.
With its considerable weight and quality of manufacture, this is a notably better example than many lightweight decorative fantasy swords. It would make an impressive display piece for collectors of medieval-inspired weapons, Arthurian memorabilia or fantasy arms.
