Description

~ Rhodesian LDP Land Defence Pistol-Kommando Sub Machine Gun ~

The LDP (Lacoste DuPlessis Ponter), known as the Kommando in South Africa, was a Rhodesian-South African carbine designed by Alex DuPlessis in 1975 and produced jointly by Lacoste Engineering in Rhodesia and Maxim Parabellum in South Africa from 1975 until 1979. One of a number of carbines designed by the Rhodesians around that time, the Kommando was one of the first few examples of a “Land Defense Pistol”.

One of a variety of semi-automatic carbines designed and manufactured in Rhodesia (now a part of Zimbabwe) for use as self-defense weapons, the Kommando was manufactured during the Bush War Era as a “Land Defense Pistol” (a generic term for weapons of this type) for use by white African farmers.

The Kommando was a simple carbine that was cheaply manufactured. The weapon had a wireframe stock and was designed around the Uzi. As such, the weapon accepts Uzi magazines.

The piece is serial numbered SV 7451 and bears on the side the labels of the Arms Manufacturing Corporation.

~ Condition ~

The piece is in fair condition with signs of use.
