Description

*Russian-Soviet, c. WWI–WWII, Maxim M1910 250-Round Ammunition Box with Unused Steel Belt*

An original Soviet steel ammunition box for the Maxim M1910 machine gun, complete with an original 250-round steel Maxim belt, still retained in its original waxed paper wrapping. The box is of the classic green-painted, heavy-gauge steel pattern, fitted with a webbing carrying handle and hinged lid with sliding latch, as issued for frontline service.

Measuring approximately 26 × 25.8 × 8.5 cm, this is the correct size and configuration for the standard 250-round Maxim belt, designed to feed the legendary water-cooled Maxim gun chambered in 7.62×54R.

The belt remains unused, with clean steel links and original factory preservation, an increasingly uncommon survival.

Historical Note:
The Maxim M1910 was the principal heavy machine gun of Imperial Russian and later Soviet forces, seeing continuous service from the First World War, through the Russian Civil War, the Second World War, and into the early Cold War period. Its robust steel belt feed system was integral to its sustained rate of fire, and ammunition was issued in durable steel boxes such as this to protect belts from mud, moisture, and damage in the field.

Boxes of this type would have been deployed at platoon and company level, supporting Maxim teams across every major Eastern Front theatre.

*Condition*
The ammunition box shows honest service wear, with original green paint, surface abrasions, minor dents, and age-related corrosion consistent with field use. Hinges and latch remain intact and functional. The steel Maxim belt is unused, still in original wax paper, with excellent link condition throughout. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
