~ Silver Cigarette Box – London 1934 ~
A handsome cigarette box in sterling silver dated for 1934.
The rectangular box has sloped sides, machine turn engraving to the top and sits on four feet.
It is inscribed to the front ‘E.L.G. 18th May 1935’
The hinged lid rises to reveal a wood interior with moveable centre panel.
The box is hallmarked for Silver, London, 1934 with a makers mark for ‘Alexander Clark & Co Ltd’.
~ Dimensions ~
The box measures 17.5cm (7 inches) by 12.5cm (5 inches) with a height of 4.5c. (1 ¾ inches)>
It weighs 695g.
~ Condition ~
The box has a couple of oxidation spots and a few very shallow dings.
There is a split to one corner of the lid and a slight split to one hinge.
There is evidence of the interior being re-glued into place at some point.
Overall the piece is in a very nice condition with minimal wear.
