Description

*Soviet, Interwar Dated-1932, Tula Arsenal Mosin-Nagant M91/30 Bolt-Action Rifle with sling, Serial No 46663, Deactivated, Matching Numbers*

A good original Soviet Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 bolt-action infantry rifle, manufactured at the Tula Arsenal in 1932, with matching numbers, sling, and correct early pattern fittings, deactivated to current specification.

The rifle is clearly marked to the barrel shank with the Tula Arsenal star-and-arrow emblem above the date 1932, together with the serial number 46663 with Cyrillic prefix. The same number is present on the bolt body, magazine floorplate and buttplate, indicating a matching numbered example consistent with Soviet arsenal refurbishment practice. Additional inspection and refurbishment stamps are visible, including a diamond arsenal mark on the barrel shank.

The rifle retains the correct M91/30 pattern long stock with finger grooves, metal sling escutcheons, tangent rear sight graduated in metres, and the correct early pattern front sight assembly with circular guard and fixed post, typical of early production rifles. The rifle is fitted with a Soviet canvas sling with leather tabs and retains its cleaning rod.

Approx. Measurements – Barrel length: 73 cm. Overall length: 122.7 cm.

Historical Note:
The Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 was the standard service rifle of the Soviet Red Army from the early 1930s until the end of the Second World War and remained in use for decades afterwards. The design originated with the Model 1891 rifle of Imperial Russia, but during the late 1920s and early 1930s the Soviet Union undertook a major programme of modernisation and standardisation, resulting in the improved M91/30 pattern.

Production at the Tula Arsenal in the early 1930s represents the period of Soviet re-armament prior to the Second World War, when older rifles were rebuilt and new rifles manufactured in preparation for the rapid expansion of the Red Army. Rifles from this pre-war period are often better finished than later wartime examples, before the emergency simplifications introduced during the German invasion of 1941.

Large numbers of M91/30 rifles saw extensive service throughout the Second World War on the Eastern Front. The Mosin-Nagant became one of the most widely produced military rifles in history, with millions manufactured, and remains one of the most recognisable infantry weapons of the Second World War and the Cold War period.

*Condition*
The rifle has been professionally deactivated and is supplied with Birmingham Proof House certificate dated 2026. The bolt operates but the rifle cannot be fired. Good service condition overall showing typical military wear. The metalwork retains much of its finish with areas of handling wear and light surface marking. The stock shows dents, scratches and marks consistent with long service use. Sling present and serviceable. Matching numbers visible. Mechanism moves as per deactivation. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
