Description

*Soviet, WW2 Dated 1942, Izhevsk Arsenal Mosin-Nagant M91/30 Bolt-Action Rifle with Sling, Serial No PO9364, Matching Numbers, Deactivated*

A good original wartime Soviet Mosin-Nagant M91/30 rifle dated 1942 and manufactured at the Izhevsk Arsenal, retaining matching serial numbers and complete with sling, in EU specification deactivated condition.

This is the standard Soviet infantry rifle of the Second World War, produced in vast numbers during the height of the Eastern Front fighting, and this example shows the typical features of wartime manufacture, with strong markings, honest service wear, and correct military fittings. The barrel shank is stamped with the Izhevsk arsenal arrow-in-triangle mark above the date 1942, together with serial number PO9364. The same number 9364 is repeated on the bolt body, magazine floorplate, and buttplate, confirming this to be a matching-number example. Soviet inspection and acceptance marks are present across the metalwork. Additional Soviet inspection and acceptance marks are present on the barrel and receiver. The rifle retains the correct wartime tangent rear sight, hooded front sight, cleaning rod, and original pattern sling fitted with leather tabs. The stock shows the typical wartime finish with visible handling wear, small dents and abrasions consistent with service use, but remains solid and complete with no structural damage.

Approx. Measurements – Barrel length: 73 cm. Overall length: approx. 123 cm.

Historical Note:
The Mosin-Nagant M91/30 was the principal service rifle of the Soviet Red Army during the Second World War. Produced primarily at the Izhevsk and Tula arsenals, millions were manufactured between 1941 and 1944 as the Soviet Union struggled against the German invasion.

Rifles dated 1942 were produced during one of the most intense periods of the war, when Soviet industry had been relocated eastwards and production was focused on speed and durability rather than finish. As a result, rifles from this period often display the utilitarian machining and worn stock finish seen on this example, which is entirely typical of genuine wartime manufacture.

Despite their simplicity, Mosin-Nagant rifles proved reliable and effective in the harsh conditions of the Eastern Front and remained in Soviet service for decades after the war.

*Condition*
This rifle is deactivated to current EU specification and is supplied with Birmingham Proof House deactivation certificate confirming compliance with Regulation (EU) 2018/337. The bolt moves and the trigger operates, but the rifle cannot cock or fire. Matching serial numbers on barrel, bolt, magazine floorplate, and buttplate.. Metalwork with light wear and handling marks consistent with age. Stock with honest service wear, scratches and small dents but structurally sound. Sling present and serviceable. Mechanism moves but does not cock, as per deactivation. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
