~Spithead – Destroyer Entering Portsmouth Original Drypoint Etching By Rowland Langmaid ~
An original drypoint etching by Rowland Langmaid. The seascape picture depicts a destroyer entering Portsmouth harbour with Spitbank fort in the background. A number of smaller sailing & other naval ships can be spotted in the distance heading in a similar direction.
The piece is signed “Rowland Langmaid” on the lower right side with the title named on the lower left.
It is presented in its original black and gilt glazed frame with a single mount.
To the reverse is a label declaring the subject matter and authenticity along with a mention of that the edition was limited to 150 etchings.

Rowland John Robb Langmaid R.A. (1 December 1897 – 11 February 1956) was a British Seaman, engraver, artist and war artist. He studied maritime art with William Lionel Wyllie.
~ Dimensions ~
The frame has a width of 15.5 inches (39.3 cm), a height of 7 inches (17.8 cm) and a depth of 0.6 inches (1.5 cm). The etching has a width of 12.5 inches (31.7 cm) & a height of 3.5 inches (8.9 cm). It weighs 0.32 Kg.
~ Condition ~
The etching is in excellent order and is free from foxing. There is very light oxidation around the edges. The frame has a number of small chips to around the edge to the gilt beading.
