Although these were official rings, we believe this to be a post-war production souvenir and that it is representative of the Heinrich Himmler Death’s head ring. The rings would have been a personal award by Himmler to his SS (Schutzstaffel). The ring features Death’s head on the front and contains small runes around the surface.
The Runes and their meanings:
Sig Rune (lightning bolt shape) – the power of the sun and conquering energy
Hagal Rune (star in hexagonal shape) – faith and camaraderie
Swastika – portrayed as a symbol of power of the Aryan race
Double rune (in circle frame) – created by the SS and is a combination of runes relating to “Gott” the German word for God
This ring was to be worn only on the left hand ring finger and when an SS member was dismissed or retired, they would have to return it. It was used as a reminder that they should risk their lives for the ‘lives of the whole’.
Inside the ring is inscribed: “925” for sterling silver and “H.Himmler”
