Description

*US, WW2, Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal with Ribbon Bar*

Original United States Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal, awarded for service in the Pacific Theatre during the Second World War. The medal is struck in bronze and suspended from its correct yellow ribbon with white, red and blue stripes, representing the theatre of operations.

The obverse depicts two U.S. soldiers advancing with rifles while naval vessels, aircraft, and a palm tree appear in the background, symbolising the combined land, sea, and air operations across the Pacific islands. Around the upper rim is the inscription “ASIATIC PACIFIC CAMPAIGN.” The reverse features an American eagle standing on a rock, with the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the dates “1941–1945.”

The medal remains mounted on a display card and is accompanied by its matching ribbon bar, suitable for wear on a service uniform.

History Note:
The Asiatic–Pacific Campaign Medal was established on 6 November 1942 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces who served in the Pacific Theatre between 7 December 1941 and 2 March 1946. Eligible service included operations across the vast Pacific war zone, including campaigns in Guadalcanal, the Philippines, New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Okinawa, and numerous other island campaigns fought against Japanese forces. Campaign participation was recognised through the addition of bronze or silver campaign stars worn on the ribbon. Each star represented participation in a specific campaign such as Leyte, Iwo Jima, or Okinawa. The Pacific War was one of the largest and most geographically dispersed theatres of the Second World War, involving extensive naval warfare, amphibious landings, and air operations across thousands of miles of ocean and island chains.

*Condition*
Good overall condition. The bronze medal retains a pleasing aged patina with light handling wear consistent with age. Ribbon remains bright and intact. Mounted on original style display card with pin fitting to the rear. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
