*USA, 19th Century, Original Native American Hide Knife Sheath and Knife*

Knife: approx 29.4cm overall, 17xm blade
Sheath: 26cm long9cm at deepest point (excluding fringing)
Fringes approx 13.5cm

This is a fantastic find, great quality beaded hide sheath with its period knife. Beaded Hide Knife Sheath, in buffalo rawhide and soft hide, beaded on one side with red white and blue geometric designs and a line of purple beading. Each fringe consists of a metal piece holding two strips of leather.

The period knife is plain apart from a brass stag cutout on the grip. Two wooden slabs with 4 rivets to the tang. Some damage to the grip just above the ricasso.

*Condition*
The knife has some damage to the grip just above the ricasso. The sheath is in excellent condition for its age. Some of the fringing is missing or damaged - three fringes are broken after the metal, looks like five have broken off entirely. Please see photographs as part of the condition report.
