A British Army military bandsman's sword from the early 1800's. Comprises a brass lions head hilt and ribbed grip. (It is possible that the head is actually a Camel and represents an Egyptian campaign, it may commemorate either Nelsons victory and/or the Alexandria Campaign of 1807.) The 64.5cm curved blade is plain. There are many different variants of the British military bandsman's sword and regiments were given some leeway as to design and decoration until 1856 when a regulation pattern was introduced.

*Condition*
The Brass Lions head ribbed grip, pommel and cross guard are in excellent condition. The chain from the Lion/Camels mouth to the Guard is missing. The blade has some age related wear and tear, some nicks to the blade and some tarnishing. The scabbard draws nicely and is in good condition with some wear and tear. This is a very unusual find and looks good for its age. Please see photos as part of the condition report.
